My maiden name was Allison Goettee (g-g-grandfather changed it to Goethe).

I am researching any and all branches of the Goethe family from Germany.  At
this point, I have back to Hans Göthe in the 1500's in Ger.  The ancestor
who moved from Germany to South Carolina, along with his brother, Heinrich,
George II, was the half-cousin of the author, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
Johann's grandfather was married twice, and had two sons with each marriage.

George II and Heinrich settled in Beaufort, South Carolina, and fought in
the Revolutionary War.

I am not just interested in my South Carolina branch, but also in the
families that have settled in various locations around the United States,
and also even family still currently residing in Europe.

Looking for any and all information on any and all branches of the
Goethe/Goettee family, especially the branches origination from South
Carolina.  I have much information already, and am more than willing to
share with any interested parties.

I am compiling a massive tree, eventually I would love to have it published,
but until then it is primarily used for family information.  Until I began
this research, we knew little in our family about our beginnings before a
few generations ago.

I have also become the chairperson who arranges our family reunions (as of
yesterday at noon), so I am also interested in involving any and all
branches of the family to our Goettee/Goethe family reunions that are held
around the Hampton/Varnville area every two years.
