My wife Ann, daughter of Thomas Bolton, to be sole executrix and to have all my real and personal estate excluding the following bequests. " I claim from her a just and faithful performance as I have been a true and faithful husband". To my brother , William Ash , L 150 sterling if he is living at the time of my death. To my sister, Isabella Ash , L 100 in money of the Province. To Joseph Briant, Stephen Ford, Mr. Thomas Waring, and Mr. Ralph Izard a 40 shilling ring each inscribed with my age, and the last two with the inscription "Your call is uncertain" My mulatto slave Jemmy to have his freedom on the death or marriage of my executrix. I reserve twenty feet square of land to my heirs for ever for the burying place or tomb over my body and my wife's "if it be her will to ly by me". I leave the burial of my body to the discretion of my wife and the building of the tomb, if I die without giving directions for the same, "but if such are produced I desire my dear wife Ann to observe the same , which being neglected twelve months after my death, I order and bequeath L 50 currant money payable to the church wardens of St. Paul's; if neglected 24 months L 100 more payable to the church wardens, both sums in trust only to be paid within five days of receipt by them to be divided between two families which thy shall judge the greatest object of charity in this parish, both frequenters of the Church of England and accounted of that profession". Witnesses John Hayes, John Wilkinson and Mary Hayes. Proved 6 August 1721 by commission to William Livingston, husband and administrator of Ann Livingston alias Ash deceased, late of Westfield , South Carolina but who died in Wiltshire, England before administering.
