Subject: Re: Gilkey Creek From: Wanda Slothower Date: August 15, 1999 Jane, Try the U.S. Geological Survey website to search for Gilkey Creek, or any other "place". http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisprod It allows you to search the "name" (Gilkey), the "state" (SC) and the "feature type" (creek, locale, area, postoffice, populated place, etc. etc.). In the feature type "list of choices" there is also a "blank" which when chosen will bring up all things named "Gilkey". I usually also click on the "variant spelling". Happy Hunting. Wanda Does anyone know where Gilkey Creek is? I am researching my Hays/Hayes ancestors who were in the Union District area of SC early 1800's. I have a deed dated 1836 which mentions Gilkey Creek and another creek that I couldn't make out (could be Abdington). on the waters of the Broad River. Also looking for information on Union Church which I assume was in Union District or present day Union Co. All help appreciated.
