Dear Jane,

I found a stream called Gilkey Creek just off US 211 [also called Wilkensvill Road] not far from Salem Church and Star Farm School in the area just west of Hopewell SC. Abingdon Creek is a much larger stream that flows near Salem Church. Bethel Church, Mt. Tabor Church, and Mesopotamia Church are all in the vicinity. There are 17 Union Churches in SC, but I didn't have time to search each one to see if it is the one you're looking for.
