Subject: General James Rogers From: Kathy B. King Date: January 20, 2000 I recently sent for and received the will of Rev. James Rogers b. Aug. 2, 1768 in Ireland who died in Fairfield Co., S.C. The will was proven in 1830. In it he mentions his only son John b. bef. 1803 and several grandchildren, Fullerson, Jane, James, Humphrey, Joanna, and Martha. It also mentions his nephew General James Rogers. I suspect that the general may be the son of a Henry Rogers who lived near John Rogers but I have no proof that either are related to him. One document says that Rev. James Rogers came to S.C. in 1789 with a brother and sister so it could have been his sister's son or his brother's son. Do any of you who know S.C. history recall hearing of a General James Rogers. I guess he would have been a general near the time of the War of 1812. I thought that John Cloud Rogers b. 1811 who was married in Bibb Co., Ga. was Rev. James Roger's grandson. As you see I was wrong. It always pays to check the source.
