Bob, I thought that I had this thing tied up and put to bed, but alas, it was
not to be.
It is a small wonder that the Hawthornes, Cowans, and Richeys didn't all have
6-7 toes on each of three feet.  The intermarriage is unbelievable.  

This is what I can substantiate:

THOMAS HAWTHORNE (b 1809) (my GGGrandfather) marr. Polly Richey (b 1812)
They were married and lived in the old 96 District/Abbeville, SC.

William Richey ( died 1821) was married to an unknow woman and their marriage
produced four (4) children:

(POLLY) ANN RICHEY

Old William had two successive marriages (both to Cowan women & I think they
were sisters) the first Cowan woman (first name unknown) produced two
children:

Isaac Cowan Richey
Elizabeth Dorilla Richey

This is what I suspect:

I suspect the MARY ANN (POLLY) RICHEY and THOMAS HAWTHORNE had a least one
child (maybe more) and that child was named Thomas.  This Thomas then married
(POLLY) ANN RICHEY and are, in fact, my GG Grandparents.  Therefore, if this
holds true, that would make (MARY ANN POLLY RICHEY & THOMAS HAWTHORNE my
GGGGrandparents.
