same source pgs 145-6. COLLETON FAMILY OF SOUTH CAROLINA.   Will of  Sir John 
Colleton of Withecoomb Rawlegh, Devon, Bart., dated 22 April 1751. To be 
buried there in a coffin  the same as my grandson Petter's, (Detailed 
directions for funeral)  To my son Robert my lease on property at Exmouth, 
Devon occupied by William Drake Gould, Esq., my interest in an estate at 
Whetstone, Finchley, Middlesex, late Thomas Amy's  deceased, and the interest 
due me from Robert Leslie, Esq., To my unhappy daughter Elizabeth, late wife 
of Edward Hawley, Esq., her bond to me for L 100 and five guineas.  To Anne 
Collins, daughter of the late Rev. John Collins  of Stoke, Devon for her 
charity in assisting us during our sickness since she has lived with us, an 
annuity of L 40 for life and the possession of the house where I lived at 
Exmouth. To her and to my daughter-in-law Susannah Colleton , now in South 
Carolina , money for mourning. To my grandson  John Colleton , son of the 
late John Colleton , in Carolina ans Susannah his wife  all my other estates 
in Great Britain. To my grandson John Colletonm , son of the late JOhn 
Colleton of South Carolina  all my estates in America.  Previous to the 
marriage of my son John Colleton, ceceased to Susannah Snell, I settled on 
her my Barony called Fairlawns in South Carolina and my son disposed  of it 
in his will. As the settlement was arranged by  word of  mouth  I now confirm 
it  in order to avoid disputes. Executors Ann Collins and son Robert Colleton 
in trust for grandson John Colleton. Witnessed Finley   Belfield, Allan 
Belfield, Endymion Walker. Proved  13 November 1754 by Robert Colleton, 7 
March 1755 by Ann Collins, spinster, 2 August 1759 by Sir John Colleton , 
Bart., the grandson. (PRO:PCC 295/1754)  Will of Peter Colleton of South  
Carolina, Esq., dated 30 November 1740. To my brother John Colleton all my 
books and to my sister Susanna Colleton my inlaid cabinet  and L 50 "to apply 
 to the Letter herein enclosed" (not in register). To my brother Robert 
Colleton the residue of my estate. Executors: my brothers John and Robert 
Colleton . Witnessed Elianor Sandwell, Nathaniel Lade, William Hopton. Proved 
11 November 1754 by Robert Colleton , the surviving executor. (PRO:PCC
