Joshua L. and Isaac Nichols migrated from Sumter County, SC, after the 1820 census was taken, to Bedford County, TN.   Some time between 1840 and 1850 they moved to Marion County, AL.  Both were War of 1812 soldiers and bounty land applications filed in Marion County state that they served in McWillie's Regiment of SC Militia.  Joshua's military papers state that his place of rendezvous after discharge in Charleston was Salem County.  I believe they lived in the area of Salem which later became Sumter County.   

William and Jacob Nichols were living in Salem County in 1810--one of them was possibly Joshua's and Isaac's father.  William Nichols was a Rev. War soldier who served from Anson County, NC.  He was living in that area of SC by 1790 and continued living there until his death in 1823.  Jacob Nichols only appeared on the 1810 census.  His widow may have been Cath Nichols who is listed on the 1820 Sumter census.  Census records show that both these men had several sons.

  I am looking for relatives on the Geddings, Hulon and Gruber lines of my
  family, and have an extensive family tree for the Nicholes side which was
  provided by some of my Geddings relatives. All these families were in South
  Carolina (Sumter or West Columbia) and Columbus, Georgia (Gruber). I also
  know that I have a Cherokee great grandmother who married a Hulon and who
  had a son named Jessie C. Hulon. I have a Geddings family tree back to
  pre-Revolutionary times, but I am not sure how accurate it is. Please post
  if you have any information (or if you need more details from me to determine
  if you have information on my, or our, family!
