Hi all-I am new to the list and am trying to find the parents of my
ggggrandfather, William Filmore GATES, b 2-24-1825 in the DeKalb Co.,
area of middle TN.  Census records of 1850 in Wilson Co., TN, 1860 in
Johnson Co., MO and 1870 and 1880 in Greene Co., MO all show his parents
as both being born in SC.  He served in the War with Mexico, 1846-47 out
of TN and in the Vol. Militia for the Civil War in MO.  His first wife
was Elizabeth H. Rice and his second was Christina A. Climer.
Any help out there?
