Are you sure that Henry's father was Thomas Gassaway b:1754 who married
Jane Kelley(Keller) in Berkeley Co., VA. in 1779?  I have about 200 years
of Ancestors of Thomas' and what I believed to be a complete list of their
children

John Gassaway b:13 August 1780 in Berkeley Co., VA
William Gassaway b: Abt 1784 in Berkeley Co., VA
Martha Gassaway
Nicholas Gassaway b: 24 Nov 1793 in Berkeley Co.,VA
Mary Gassaway b:1794
Andrew Gassaway b:abt 1795
Thomas Gassaway b:31 March 1801 in Berkely Co., VA

Children proved from Rev War Pension application (R3959) dated 18 March
1834.  It states that he lived in Rowan Co., NC and enlisted there.  Later
lived in Frederick Co., VA and enlisted there in 1777.  He then enlisted in
Berkeley Co., VA in 1780 after marrying Jane Kelley in 1779.  She died 16
Feb 1842 in Ross Co., OH, at age 80.  Thomas died 15 Feb 1835 in Ross Co.,
OH, at age 81.  Children were: John, Mary, William, Thomas, Nicholas,
Martha, & Andrew.  Pension application also lists Jane's brother as a
William Kelley who died in Ross Co., OH in 1852 at age 80.

Thomas had a brother James Gassaway, and an uncle James Gassaway, who both
had sons named Henry and who both eventually spent time in South Carolina
(although their dates don't seem to match your info).  I am interested in
the information that you have and I have a number of sources that I could
point you in the direction of that may assist you if you are interested.
