Subject: GAMBRELL/Property Transfers From: Janice Gunnin Date: May 28, 1998 In some papers passed down on my husbands mothers side I found this written from SC archives plots of tracts which may have been granted to John Gambrell. "Property Transfers between 1790 and 1829: 10-29-1823 Henry Gambrell - 1804 Broadmouth Creek (owned at time of death, willed to Henry). It will be noted that, if all acquisitions of land by John Gambrell, Sr. were recorded, at the time of his death (1834) he owned only 180 acres on Broadmouth Creek which he had acquired in 1823 from his son Henry. This property was bequeathed to Henry by John's will. In 1820 John and his sons Henry, Mathew, and David lived within a few houses of each other. This was probably on Rocky River southeast of the present city of Anderson. In 1819 Henry had purchased 450 acres on Broadway which is adjacent to Rocky River at this point." (Above from James Wyatt Gambrell, 1971) If anyone can help with this line of Gamrells/Bruton/Breazeale let me know.
