I am researching the GALLAUGHER surname. This surname, like many others,
has a variety of spellings.

Today the Gallaugher surname is found primarily in Chillicothe, OH. It was
found early in PA, NC, Chester Co., SC and Abbeville District, SC.

This is a list of soldiers in Gooches American Regiment 1739-1741. The
compiler notes that Gooches American Regiment was raised to fight in the War
of Jenkins' Ear. Four companies of this regiment were raised in NC. The
regiment sailed to the Caribbean. The soldiers were discharged to various
ships. I don't know if any of the ships made port in SC.

I would appreciate ANY information about ANY GALLAUGHERS, Anywhere. Who
were the parents of James and John? Does anyone have evidence to identify
which of Major John Hearst's daughters married John Gallaugher?

When/where did James Gallaugher die?

There were Gallaugher families in Chester Co., SC before 1800. Were they
traveling with other Long Cane settlers who came through Chester Co?

James Galhagar was in the Long Cane Settlement before 1775. Does anyone
have a record of his acquisition of land?
"A Compilation of the Original Lists of Protestant Immigrants to South
Carolina 1763-1773"; compiled by Janie Revill; Genealogical Publishing Co.;
1974 Charles >Galhagar< whose petition for land was one of those read at a
Council Meeting on 7 August 1764.

In Boonesborough of Belfast Township . . .
Charles Galhager 100 Certificate for Bounty to be granted when
he produces a proper Certificate of his being a Protestant.

Thanks,

Dennis Smith
