Subject: Funny thing about Death Certificates From: Eddie Mikell Date: December 17, 1999 All: Don't get your hopes up too much for finding death certificates in South Carolina, even for those who died after 1911. My wife's grandfather Clyde Holliman, died in Red River South Carolina, April 13, 1932. No record of his death exist. What I have heard, and I don't know if this is true, is that since he worked for the textile "community", the textile company was responsible for filing Death certificates, which they rarely did. Many folks who worked in that area/industry died without a trace. My mother-in-law was hustled off to an ophanage, as he mother was put out of the home that textile mill provided.
