Colonel seems a logical guess, but  what I am
questioning is the surname COLCLASTURE /CULCLASTURE I have
found in SC Census several times listed living nextdoor or
with SCOFIELD families and others (MILLER, WELCH, GREEN)
that could be related to my CLASTRIER line. I'm just
wondering how badly a name could be butchered and then
perhaps the butchered version of the name be used in an old
French naming pattern.

As "E" mentioned... she thought COL meant son of....
wouldn't that be splendid if they took the name Anglicized
it (spelled it according to the way it would be
mispronounced) then added the "son of".... in keeping with
tradition (if there is such a tradtion).

Time to look up my French connections! Perhaps a look in the
French phonebook would help.

I'm just slamming thoughts against the wind here!
