In Anne King Gregorie's book "The History of Sumter County", there is 
mention of the fact that the town of Sumter,SC was home to "one of the 
ten center of the (Freedmen's) Bureau in the state".

I intend to search the unindexed Freedmen's records at the Archives in 
Wash., DC.  Would anyone know of any other sources that may shed light 
on this particular branch of the Bureau?
