Subject: FREE until 1 Apr 2000; Chas. City Dir Database 1888-1890 From: Janet Jilote Date: March 29, 2000 FREE until 1 Apr 2000; Chas. City Directory Database 1888-1890, on Ancestry.com http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/4431.htm I have searched surnames, street names, and / or addresses. I have found relatives by searching for the neighboring addresses (ex: 421, then 423, etc); and also by just going through a whole street search. When using the address you may find that other relatives were listed in the same household. You may also want to try variations of street name spellings (misspellings). The City Directories had their share of typos! You may find that your relatives lived in an apt. dwelling rather than a single household, or that the homes were also a place of business. My only complaint, the listings do not have the wife's name in "( )" as it is shown in the original City Directories. ENJOY! I have done a marathon of searches in the past 12 hrs, and almost forgot to tell my SCROOTS family ~ please forgive me.
