Around Whitmire are gathered many of the ancestors of Nathan Davis. (In alphabetical order to be politically correct (G) In Newberry County: Abner Casey was granted 100 acres in 1770 John Casey was granted 200 acres in 1766 Levi Casey was granted 245 acres in 1786 Lew Casey was granted 316 Acres in 1785 Nathaniel Davis was granted 483 &1/2 acres in1785 (on the north side of the Onoree River, probably in Union County) Joseph Duckett was granted 23 acres in 1790 Benonie Fowler was granted 200 acres in 1756 (Richard's father) Richard Fowler was granted 83 acres in 1784 (Levi's Father) Eli Odell was granted 26 acres in 1800 James Odell & Thomas Duckett were granted 310 acres in 1794 John Odell was granted 500 acres in 1785 (near Odell's Ford) John Odell was granted 50 acres in 1769 John Odell was granted 500 acres in 1788 (probably in Laurens County) That John Odell was Granted over 1000 acres may indicate that he was a General or a very important officer in the South Carolina Continental Line army.
