In response to the question of a list of Founding Families of SC.  I do not
believe you will find a list of Founding Families until after December 31,
1998 which is the deadline for CHARTER MEMBERSHIP.

You can contact Frances Osburn at e-mail [email protected] ( she
is the newsletter Editor).  You can send a SASE to Columbia Chapter, SCGS,
Inc. P.O. Box 11353, Columbia, SC 29211-1353 and they will send you an
application.  You have to be a member or join the Columbia Chapter SCGS,
$16.00 Membership.  You must send a $25.00 fee for membership in Founding
Families.

Any ancestor who was living in SC when it was admitted to United States in
1788 is eligible.  You must present an "acceptable record" for each
generation.

Only one person in a family is required to join Columbia Chapter SCGS but
each applicant in family must pay the $25.00 application fee.

I used my DAR Record as the ancestor lived in SC prior to 1788.

If you are already a member of another SCGS,  I believe you join Columbia
Chapter as an Associate for a smaller fee.

Hope this answers some questions.  I was accepted Feb. 25, 1998.
