Fort Moultrie on Sullivans Island at Charleston SC was originally called
Fort Sullivan. I cannot locate the point at which its name was changed to
Fort Moultrie, but the only Rev War battle of which I am aware that took
place there was in June 1776. The fort was under the command of Col. Wm.
Moultrie. Gen. Chas. Lee appeared shortly before the battle and is
remembered for his incorrect prediction that the fort would be destroyed in
a few minutes of battle. Lt. Col. Barnard Elliot commanded the north
battery. Col. Wm. Thomson's Rangers (mounted infantry) prevented British
attempts to land on the island. When the British finally captured the fort
in 1780, Maj. Patrick Ferguson (later died at Kings Mountain),
knowledgeable on the subject, declared it to be the "strongest fort ever
built by human hands".

This info from the NPS booklet "Fort Moultrie", Handbook 136, available
From Kings Mountain NMP at
http://www.nps.gov/kimo/books.htm
or at least, that is where I bought mine.

Another place to check would be the Fort Moultrie National Monument online
bookstore at
http://www.nps.gov/fomo/eastern/index.htm
I noted at least one book there showing roster info.
