I was aware of Teague Cantey as the founder of the South Carolina Cantey
family. My best information is that the origin of the Teagues (with this
and very similar spellings) is in the vicinity of Shropshire England,
and the Celtic origins of the name seem to be consistent with the
proximity to Wales here. There are also Teigs, and so forth, from Ireland,
but of course you can't trust early spelling for consistency.

Other than that I know little about the Teagues. My husband's family is
From Arkansas, and has been there since about 1820 as far as I can tell
with a quick check of records for that area. No one in his family does
genealogy and I haven't gotten far into it. I know the Charlotte NC area
seems to have an awful lot of Teagues, and there is a branch in Newberry
SC as well.

On Felder-Cantey connections in Clarendon County -- I found out about
these through work on the Duke(s) family, although I am also interested as
a descendant of Abraham Felder, a son of Capt. John Henry Felder. Julian
Dantzler Kelly Jr sent me the following information on one of the Felder
connections:

John Felder (of Clarendon) was the son of Capt. Henry Felder Sr. He was
born 12
December 1751 and was killed about 1781, during the Am. Revolution. He
married Sarah Snell, born 16 July 1758, daughter of Johannes Adam
Schnell/Snell. Their children were (Major) John Pelham Felder (1776 -- 13
December 1814), killed in the War of 1812, and William Felder (1778 -- 13
March 1825). After John Felder's death, his widow Sarah married John
Ragin.
