I also use Family Tree Maker and find the program
itself satisfactory but I will never upload to
anyone who SELLS my information.  There is too
much hard work and freely-given generous
contributions from all of you for it to be sold.
I have purchased some of the CD's but except for
the Census CD's found minimal information about
my family. I've kept some and sent some back, had
no problem getting credited.

Please note that most of the paid genealogy
services state that your subscription will be
AUTOMATICALLY  continued (charged to your credit
card) if you don't write (e-mail) and tell them
to discontinue.  If you do subscribe please make
a note of date when it ends so you can cancel
before they charge you again and check your
credit card statement carefully. 

When people upload their trees to FTM and other
places that sell them do they promise not to
place these trees out on the internet in places
such as Rootsweb where they can be searched for
free.  If they don't make such a promise maybe we
should ask these people to consider this.
