When you come across a family with several deaths listed in a short period of time, you have to wonder if it was disease or some other disaster. My grandfather lost 3 siblings in one day to typhoid in the 1880's. Also keep in mind, there were other disasters in South Carolina such as earthquakes, "the Great Charleston Fire," and numerous hurricanes. Hurricanes hit our coastal ancestors particularly hard since communication was slow, and they had little or no warning to retreat inland. I have a listing of some of these disasters and will post next time I come across it. Happy hunting and good health to you.
