Subject: DUFFIN, STOPPELBEIN, VILLENEUVE From: Cynthia H Porcher Date: November 24, 2000 VILLENEUVE- Sara J. Villeneuve, widow of Joseph H. Villeneuve of Chas. and Chesterfield Co, moved her family to Sumter Twp, Sumter, SC ca 1875. They are listed in the 1880 census as living on Main St. She was 42 years old and had the following children at that time John W (20), Hattie E (13), Lorenz Stoppelbein (11), Charles L. (8), and Joseph (6). DUFFIN / VILLENEUVE on 13 Oct , 1841, Mrs Margaret E VILLENEUVE (widow) marrried Mr Samuel A. Duffin of the Sumter Distr. They were married in the St John's Lutheran Church in Charleston. It is not known whether the new Mrs Duffin brought children with her to Sumter. VILLENEUVE/STOPPELBEIN There are a number of connections between the Villeneuve family and Sumter Co. In the mid 1800's Stoppelbein women married into the Moise and Hurst families from Sumter. The mother of these women was a VILLENEUVE. I would like to find some other researchers with connections to these families. I will share, of course!
