I am looking for anyone researching the Dryman family of South
Carolina.
James Dryman has been found on these census records:
1830 - South Carolina, Pickens, M19/173, page 320
  1 male 1-5; 1 male 5-10; 1 male 10-15; 1 male 40-50
  2 females 1-5; 2 females 5-10; 1 female 30-40
1840 - South Carolina, Pickens, M704/514, page 362
  1 male 5-10; 1 male 10-15; 1 male 40-50
  1 female 10-15; 1 female 15-20; 1 female 40-50
1850 - South Carolina, Pickens, M432/857, page 501
  James, 60; Didima, 59; Adeline, 26; Martha, 21; Fidella, 18
[nearby are sons, Francis W., 33 and Leonard, 24 with their families]
(there is no further census records for James Dryman, children show up 
in later years but have found no later reference to James)
  James occupation in 1850 is teacher of writing.  While it is
possible
that both James and Diademia died before the 1860 census was taken,
where did the children go?  Daughter, Martha married Christopher 
Whitmire, 2 Dec 1871 in Transylvania County, NC
  On 18 Jan 1862, "P." J. Dryman enlisted in Co. F, 22 Regiment South
Carolina
Infantry of the Confederate Army as a Private at Camp Hampton by Capt.
Stewart.
There was no other information in the file received from the South
Carolina
State Archives. Is this Fidella, with just an error in the initial?
  What happened to Adeline? Where were they in 1860?
  My line is thru James' son Leonard who married Nancy Alexander,
daughter
of William M. and Celia Boon Alexander.
  Would like to share and exchange information on these families.
