Subject: Divorced in 1880? From: Damita Green Date: October 06, 1999 On the 1880 Federal Census form, under maritial status it has listed married, single, divorced or widowed. I've found a family with the head of household (female) listed as divorce, with her spouse listed a few pages back as married. I thought divorce wasn't legal in SC until late 1940's early 1950's?
