Yes, death certificates were issued in 1929.  I don't remember how much they
cost, but the best place to get them is the county of death.  If you don't know
the county, then send the request to Columbia, SC.    If someone else out there
knows the URL for this, it will give you all the information and the price for
the death certificate.  Sorry, I couldn't help you more.
