SC has a death index starting in 1915,  I believe, through roughly the mid
1940's.  You could also contact the DHEC to conduct a search for you.  If
you use the index yourself, once you have the death certificate # from the
index, you may either order the certified copy from DHEC in Columbia, SC at
$12 per copy, or go to the SC Archives in Columbia and make a copy of the
death certificate off microfilm for 50 cents, or go to your local FHC and
order the appropriate microfilm that contains that death certificate for
$3.50.
