Here's a tidy little profit made from a widow's dire straits (due to
husband's debts)...

-----------------------------
Book D, p. 305 SAMUEL DEAN(E), merchant & MARY his wife,
10 & 11 Feb. [no year]	to CHARLES HILL, merchant, all of Charleston,
L & R for L500 current SC money, part of lot #11 in
Charleston, 86 ft. long, 27 1/2 ft. front.
Whereas WILLIAM HYDE, merchant, of Charleston, owned part of lot #11 in
Charleston, bouding S on a little neighborhood street leading to the
house of Dr. JOHN HUTCHINSON & CAPT. THOMAS HEPWORTH; W on MOSES WILSON;
which property was heretofore the estate of JOSEPH CROSKEYS & conveyed
by CROSKEYS & MARGRET INGERSON, executrix of will of CROSKEYS Tto
WILLIAM HYDE (Act of General Assembly 7 June 1712 to enable executor of
will of JOSEPH CROSKEYS, mariner, to sell a plantation, town lots & real
estate) and another Act of General Assembly 18 Feb. 1714 rested the
estate of WILLIAM HYDE, merchant, in trustees for payment of his debts &
maintenance of his widow ELIZABETH WIGFALL HYDE & child, (HYDE owing
considerable sums of money & his personal estate falling so short that
if his real estate be not sold his creditors would lose heavily, & to
remove all doubts of the title of the real estate of HYDE, it was

BENJAMIN QUELCH as trustees, with power to sell, & in case of their
neglect or refusal to act it would be lawful for ELIZABETH WIGFALL HYDE
to dispose of the property); & whereas FENWICKE & QUELCH had neglected
or refused to sell, ELIZABETH 24 & 25 Jan. 1716 sold to SAMUEL DEAN for
