He was married twice. His first wife, Mary, was a daughter of Moses Burgess
of McIntosh County; by her five children were born. She died about 1820..
His second wife, Elizabeth, born in South Carolina, maiden name unknown.
The 1830 and 1840 censuses indicates she was born 1800 or after; the 1850
census says 1802 and the 1860 census says 1800; but her tombstone in Ramah
Church cemetery in Pierce County, says she was born 1794, which was
probably incorrect.
By her seven children were born. The twelve children in their order were:

2. Daniel D. b. 1814, m. Rebecca Hall, dau. of Lewis (Vol. 1).

11. Mary	b. 1841,	m. Thompson Harris (son of Hampton).
12. Harley	b. 1846,	m. Susan Aspinwall.

James Davis was a private in the Georgia militia in the War of 1812. He
enlisted at Darien in 1813 in Capt. Samuel Owens' company of McIntosh
county militia, and served six months, all as shown by his bounty-land
application made in Ware (now Pierce) County, Sept. 1, 1855. He was living
in McIntosh County at the time of service and was still there in the 1820
census. In the 1830, 1840, 1850 censuses he was living in the 584th
district of Ware County (which district was cut into Pierce County in
1858). He died there about 1857, and believed to be buried at Ramah Church
by his last wife who died Aug. 12, 1888; her grave is marked but his is
not.
