Check Georgia and Miss for missing kinfolks. me SWEAT, Nathan 1760-1830 Emanuel Nathan Sweat (sometimes referred to as "Nathaniel" Sweat) was born in Beaufort District, South Carolina, about 1760, and grew up there. He came to Georgia soon after the Revolutionary War and married here, then returned to South Carolia for a brief stay. Later, about 1792, he moved back to Georgia and lived in Effingham and Screven counties until the formation of Bulloch County in 1796 when he was transferred to that county. Later, when Emanuel County was made partly out of Bulloch, he was cut into that county in 1812. His wife's first name was Sarah but her maiden name has not been learned. To them were born the following known children: 1. William b. 1787, m. Sarah Williams, daughter of Samuel, R. S. 2. John b. 1794, m. Charlotte Moore, daughter of John. 3. Nathan b. 1796, m. Charity Newbern, daughter of Thomas. 4. Nancy b. 1798, m. William King, moved to Ware Co. 5. Samuel b. 1804, m. Mariah Strickland, daughter of Jame. 6. James A. b. 1806, m. (1) Serena Elizabeth Newbern, daughter of Thomas (2) Mrs. Mary Newbern Sweat, her sister. Nathan Sweat as a Revolutionary soldier, drew Lot of Land No. 397 in the 20th District of original Muscogee County in the 1827 Land Lottery, residing at the time in Emanuel County. A deed appears of record in Bulloch County from Nathan Sweat and his wife Sarah, to Benjamin Hodges, dated November 14, 1799, for 350 acres granted Sweat January 1, 1798 (Deed Book "A", pp. 40-41).
