Subject: Re: DAVIS Surname From: BNOREM Date: April 24, 1998 In a message dated 98-04-24 00:21:26 EDT, you write: << GEORGIA RECORDS: There was a BUCKHEAD in St. George Parish in pre-Revolutionary days. In researching "my" John Thomas(St Matthew's Parish, near the Salzburg settlement), I had to accumulate records on another John Thomas who was in the next parish up the river, i.e. St. George. I do know that "my" John Thomas lived in what would become Effingham County. Anyway, in Plat Book C, page 365, August 1768 for St. George Parish....Gideon(John"s son) Thomas was granted 200 acres on S side of Buck Head..., and again in May 1771 he was granted 100 acres on the west side of little Buck head near the Mouth of the Boggy Branch of a Place called the horse Pen. This could be the Buckhead you mentioned, or it could be a fairly common name. Hope it helps... ------------------------------------- Name: Ramona Thomas (Ronnie) E-mail: [email protected] Date: 04/23/98 Time: 22:39:50 >> Ramona - Thank you for this information. I've had several responses on where the location of Buckhead may have been, and I sure appreciate them all. I'll consider each crefully and start digging deeper. This location seems to me to be the most logical and could be a good clue as to where my John Davis, Sr was before Effingham Co. Thank you so much.
