Subject: Re: Date of Birth, Please From: Elreeta Weathers Date: March 18, 1998 Mr. Hughes, I do not have a handy-dandy date calculator or PAF, but may I explain how to accurately calculate his DOB. I am writing from the standpoint of a retired Educational Diagnostician who has had to calculate the exact ages of students being tested. Death Date: Year Month Day =============================== 1891 4 12 Death Date Minus 65 8 27 Age at Death _________________________________ 1. Borrow 30 days (1 month) from 4 and add 30 days to 12 so that the equation becomes: 1891 3 42 Minus 65 8 27 __________________________________ 2. Subtract 27 from 42--so that he was born on the 15th day of the month. 3. Borrow 12 months (1 year) from 1891 and add 12 months to 3 months, so that the equation becomes: 1890 15 42 Minus 65 8 27 ________________________________ 1825 7 15 DOB: 15 July, 1825 To check reverse the process: 1825 7 15 65 8 27 ___________________________________ 1890 15 42 Subtract 30 days from 42 and add 1 month to 15 1890 16 12 Subtract 12 months from 16 and add 1 year to 1891 1891 4 12 or Date of Death was 12 April, 1891 This process makes no allowances for leap years. Elreeta Crain Weathers [email protected] http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/1789/ https://sites.rootsweb.com/~txhamilt/main.htm http://hamilton.htcomp.net/rrw/main.htm ---------- Group, It appears that my request for a date of birth has stirred up a bit of a hornets nest. Of the responses that I have received so far, and there have been a number of them, I am getting two very different dates. The man died on 12 April 1891 His age was placed at 65 years, 8 months and 27 days. I am getting his date of birth as 7 March 1826, and also as 16 July 1825.
