We know that grandmother was asked to join the DAR but for whatever reason she did not follow through on it. Possibly old age. At any rate we are now wondering which ancestor it was that qualified her for membership. She was a Bassett out of Barnwell District SC and her ancestral line is of course Bassett and maternal were Jackson,Googe, Cone, Creech and Preacher as far back as we have them. Who could I contact to find out why they offered her membership and for what ancestor?
