Subject: RE: DAR From: Linjac Date: January 11, 2000 Tom and Sharon, I can see where you are coming from and I know that wives are very important, but the man's wife is not on the document declaring allegiance to his state against the King of England and would not have been allowed to sign it even if she wanted to. Wives were not allowed to have any participation in the affairs of men. The direct bloodline is the direct bloodline any way you look at it and it seems that they are trying to block people from joining. I was also told that I would have to attend a luncheon so that the other ladies could "look me over". Does this have anything to do with a direct bloodline or are we looking for bluebloods. If that is the case, I would not be allowed to join as my ancestors were all very poor sharecroppers, but they still served and sometimes died. It was just a strange situation for me and I felt very uncomfortable which should not have been the case. I have just chalked it up to a bad experience.
