I am new to this mailing list but far more important I am new to trying to find
someone in South Carolina. This is my first ancestor that has come into the
state of Tennessee by way to South Carolina. I am lost! Sorry, I know very
little of your state history or districts. I need help.

This is what I know:

Daniel Williams Sr. travelled with the Buchanan Party from South Carolina to
the Cumberland Settlements (Davidson, Co., TN-Nashville) leaving his family in
Danville in 1778-80, while he proceeded to the French Lick to build cabins.
The was a signer of the Cumberland Compact, May, 1780; ordered by the Committee
of the Cumberland Association to help lay off a road from Nashborough toward
Mansker's Station, April 1, 1783. He was sheriff and served on the first Grand
Jury, Oct 7, 1783. He received a North Carolina land grant. He died in 1794
in Davidson Co. His children were Capt. Sampson Williams, Eunice Carmick (wife
of Aquilla Carmack and my ancestor), Wright, Amos, Nimrod, Daniel, Oliver,
Turner,

TodAy's jackpot questions for this group are:

Where is Danville?
Could this be the Daniel Williams, Capt, listed in the NC Roster of Rev
Veterans who was from the Wilmington Co, NC as stated in those records? This
Daniel fought at King's Mountain?

Can anyone offer some help or push me in the correct direction.Thanks.
