Subject: CUNNINGHAM, MARTIN Lancaster Co PA 1770 From: Jim Cunningham Date: July 03, 1998 For Jan McChesney: When I asked (June 1, 1998) if Dumfries was not the home town of Robert Burns, there was tongue-in-cheek. If you have been so fortunate (?) to have had extensive acquaintance of those with the Cunningham surname, you would know by now that they have an insufferable sense of humor. All of this was brought on by the picture of James Cunningham (looking a great deal as I), and hanging over the mantle in Robert's domicile. Apparently, James was presiding over the Lodge duly assembled. The caption included the advisory that he was the patron of Robert Burns. However, have not linked back to this particular James. And this is the only instance I know of the friendship and cooperation between the two. But seriously, have you elsewhere run across any other of these kinds of connections between Cunningham and Burns? Best wishes, James R.
