Subject: Re: CRAIG, HUEY, BARBER Ire>SC>IL Rev. Martin's ships Ire>SC 1772 From: Katharine Kirk Date: February 21, 1999 Yes. There are lots of us out there. Linda Merle of the Scotch-Irish list has started a website for those who descended from Rev. Martin's group: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~merle/index.html . That page contains a list of passengers as reconstructed from the Colonial Council Land Grant records. So the list isn't perfect. Only heads of households show and, of them, only those receiving land grants. Folks who bought their land are not represented. You will also want to check on a book by Jean Stephenson on this subject (it has just been reprinted) and another by Janie Revill. They don't agree entirely about which ship folks were on, but both are useful. Also if you check the archives at rootsweb, you should find lots of discussion over the last year or so on this topic. I am descended from Mathew Kirk who was travelling with his older brothers John and Robert. The record is in John's name because he was the only one old enough to receive a land grant in his own name. Mathew was only 12. There were Craigs on both the Lord Dunluce and the Hopewell. There was a Hewie on the Lord Dunluce. There were Barbers on the Lord Dunluce and on the Pennsylvania Farmer. I had originally believed that the Kirks were on the James and Mary, but it now seems more likely that they were on the Lord Dunluce. regardless of the location of their original land grants, many seem to have wound up in the Waxhaw area of the Carolinas. Ours were in Lancaster County and I recognize your names as being there also. In fact, it seems to me that there are some later connections to the Hueys. Happy hunting.
