Dear Judy:
That is where I saw the 1920 Polk County, Florida Census at.
The Polk County Genealogy Library. I tried to read it again but could only
use it about 20 minutes due to my neck.
You see I have a total spinal injury from an accident and can't sit
with my head back for that long.
I was not sure if Eagle Lake would be with Winter Haven or by itself. Some
of that area is only listed by a District #. I guess a good start before
viewing that roll would be to figure out from the
Polk Co. Tax office what District # Eagle Lake would have fell under in
1920. Then it would most likley make viewing the roll
a lot eaiser.
I did not realise it would be so huge, not thinking; I guess and took
a recent trip over to see it, well about 20mins. was all my neck could take
and then I had a painful drive home. My Doctor asked
me then on the next visit what in the world I had done.
I told him and I thought he was going to have a cow or something!
I told him it was my hobby now and he said give it up.
Right...................When he gives up breathing maybe!
He just does not seem to understand. I can't be a Nurse anymore
so I turned to genealogy. Good grief I have to have something to
do all day.
I did get to see the changes in the Library while there. They have
done a lot.
I use to go just to play around before the accident. Then after that
it took the place of my job. So now it's a big part of my life.
Only one small problem. Now everthing is on the internet yet!
Anyway, I know that they have it at the Library there in Bartow.
Could you help me out?
I'll pay for copy cost, and postage too! On his page it should be
him his wife and their children (if any) Dad says yes.
Now my Dad, his Mother, and 2 sisters stayed with them when they came, but
he believes that would have been in 1922 so would
not show up.
Main thing I need right now, is Just Nathen or Nathan Davis have
seen spelled both ways. Anyway he came there from Cloverdale,
Georgia where he ran a store and blacksmith shop in 1910.
Dad said his Davis line was (Horse Thiefs) Good Grief!!
If I can help you anyway here let me know. I have the first 10 pages of
the 1929 tax list and the first 10 pages of Highlands County Marriages that
start in 1929 also. Before that everything is
stored in DeSoto County.
Thanks,
Gail
