Subject: Re: Coosawhatchie River Area From: Nancy Parr Date: July 18, 1998 Hi Steven, Thank you so much for such a detailed history of the Coosawhatchie River. I found the information to be not only fact-filled, but quite interesting as well. My Youmans/Yeomans ancestors lived along this river so it is of specific interest to me in my research. I've always been told, yet unable to actually verify, that my ancestor John Youmans/Yeomans owned and operated a cotton mill on the Coosawhatchie River in the Ridgeland area. The years he is to have lived at that location were approximatley between 1868 (his marriage) and the time of his death around 1917-18. I have notes showing that they lived "at Log Hall, now called Turkey Hill". Do you have any suggestions on how I might find any evidence of the cotton mill or if there are any older maps that might show his property lines? I would appreciate any suggestions you or anyone else might offer. And thank you again for the interesting information on the Coosawhatchie River. Regards, Nancy E.
