Subject: COOPER;Charleston;1700's From: Kay Rockett Date: August 06, 1998 Does anyone know the descendants of the COOPER family who originally owned the land which is now downtown Charleston? I believe it's the ASHLEY-COOPER name or something similar. I believe the ASHLEY and COOPER rivers and the Cooper River Bridge were named for these families, and I would like to know if there was a Peter COOPER born in the late 1700's who was a descendant of this family. ANY info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! *********************************** Please visit Rockett's Genealogy Web selected as a Recommended Site by The History Channel http://www.kayrockett.com and also Rockett's Genealogy Books http://www.kayrockett.com/genbooks.htm.
