Re: Commissioner of the Indian Trade Journals

Dear Janice,

Would you mind checking your Indian Trade Journals for the name of Ben or
Benjamin SEALY & various spellings? I found him listed as one of 5
packhorsemen for Chickasaw Indian trader, Alexander McIntosh - the other 4
were John Francis, Alex:r. Curtone, John Gooding & Anthony Danford. Benjamin
SEALY was supposedly from VA and came into the Chickasaw Nation as a trader
when a boy or young man. He became the father of Samuel Sealy, who was one of
the Principle Chiefs of the Chickasaw and whose name appeared on several
Treaties between the U. S. Gov't. & the Chickasaw between 1816 & 1832. I have
been unsuccessful in finding any further information on Benjamin Sealy and
thought there may be something in the Journals you mentioned. Anything you
find will be very much appreciated.
Thank you very much.

Betty Norem
