Subject: Re: Col Francis Marions Men From: Joe Jones Date: June 25, 2000 Le, At the time Marion was appointed a Brigadier, Captain John Milton was his aide, and junior aides were Captain Lewis Ogier and Captain Thomas Elliott (Swamp Fox, The life and campaigns of General Francis Marion by Robert D. Bass). I assume the person you are looking for was a (surname) Thomas. Could it be that Captain Thomas Elliott's mother was a (surname) Thomas before her marriage? It is also possible that Marion had other aides later in the war. There is a mention of a Thomas Plantation "nearly opposite Cheraw Hill" from where Governor Rutledge sent hs letter appointing Marion as a Brigadier. That is the only "Thomas" in the index of the above book.
