Subject: Re: CHICKEN-SNOW families From: Edgar Taylor Date: May 29, 2000 Thanks Joy - Yes the Chicken family very definitely existed and were early in SC. The family was also in Northumberland and Durham England in the 1400s or 1500s. One should be careful of the LDS data. I know there are errors in the data for my own Taylor family. The Catherine Chicken you mention who married Benjamin Simons was the daughter of George Chicken Jr and his second wife Lydia Child. One has to be careful of information on the name Catherine Chicken, for there were at least 4 of whom I am aware. One, besides the one who married Ben Simons, was my ancestor, the daughter of William Chicken, a brother to George Jr. Another was the aunt of the two Catherines so far mentioned, who married Noah Serre Jr and after his death Dr. David Caw. There was at least one other in the Chicken line. All apparently named for the wife of Col. George Chicken, the widow of Thomas Bellamy, who married George Sr before 1710.
