Elizabeth:

Several years ago I saw a large map on display in the Charleston City Hall.
The map was "Historic Charleston on a Map, showing original high tide water
lines, fortifications, boroughs, great fires, historic information, etc." It
is dated May 1949 and I was able to buy a "blueprint" copy for a very small
sum.

I have used it many times for locating old addresses as well as determining
which old homes had likely been destroyed by fire through the years. Tha map
is about 3x4 ft. and even includes the old Magnolia Cemetery.

I imagine someone at City Hall would tell you how to order a copy.
