Library, Genealogy Room From: cynthia porcher Date: April 23, 1998 For those of you in the Charleston area and anyone who can get here, I strongly recommend the research facilities at the new Charleston Library on Calhoun St. I had the pleasure of spending several hours there yesterday, and I actually found missing ancestors on FOUR different lines. I won't take up forum time on all the details, but there are great SC Civil Wars indices, backed up with microfilm. Also was able to trace immigration records and back up with microfilm records. The microfishe machines have built in copier you drop a dime and push a button. Computers are also available in the room. The staff members are very patient and helpful, and the facility is beautiful.
