Janet,
I would really be interested in the old burial grounds in Charleston as
I have an ancestor
who was a merchant on Broad St who died in 1783 and we can't find where
he was
buried. We only know the date of death because it was published in the
newspaper.
As he was a merchant we figure he should have had some kind of
monument/tombstone
at his site of burial but he is not listed in any cemetery records we
have found. His name
is William Stukes. There is also a Joseph Stukes who was a jeweller that
we cannot find
when he died nor any burieal info on.
If you find anything on these city burial grounds that list the people
buried there I would
appreciate knowing.
Thank you very much.
