Subject: Re: Charleston City Burial Ground From: Marshall Britt Date: January 02, 2000 Janet, I would really be interested in the old burial grounds in Charleston as I have an ancestor who was a merchant on Broad St who died in 1783 and we can't find where he was buried. We only know the date of death because it was published in the newspaper. As he was a merchant we figure he should have had some kind of monument/tombstone at his site of burial but he is not listed in any cemetery records we have found. His name is William Stukes. There is also a Joseph Stukes who was a jeweller that we cannot find when he died nor any burieal info on. If you find anything on these city burial grounds that list the people buried there I would appreciate knowing. Thank you very much.
