Subject: Charles Towne Landing State Park From: Steven J. Coker Date: July 05, 1998 From: http://www.southcarolinaparks.com Charles Towne Landing State Park One of historic Charleston's many unique points of interest, this park is the site of the first English Settlement (1670) in South Carolina. The park, a nature preserve and historic site, brings to life the experience of those first settlers. Charles Towne Landing interprets the first years of the colony with hands-on activities. The full scale reproduction 17th century trading vessel "Adventure" emphasizes the important role trade played in the development of the colony. Other special features of the park include a natural habitat zoo, the 1670 Experimental Crop Garden and 80 acres of English Park Gardens. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
