Coker Date: August 09, 1998 Sumter District, South Carolina Probate Court Records Bundle 2, Package 5 Estate Papers of Charles Amonett -=-=-=-=-=- In the name of God Amen I Charles Amonett of Sumter District South Carolina being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty God who gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be Buried in a decent Christian manner at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Almighty Power of God and as touching such worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I give divise and dispose of the same in the following manner that is to say --- First I give my Grand son John Buddin one Hundred and forty three Acres of land adjoining his land and the remainder of my Plantation I Give and dispose to my Grand son Charles A. Buskirk and it is my Will and Desire that my House and (Tennements?) be in the possession of the one that Maintains John Harrell during his life and I also give to the one of my sons in law that shall maintain the Sd John Harrell twenty five Dollars yearly to be levied and paid out of my movable Estate --- and my will and desire is that all my movable Estate be sold at Public Auction be paid out of my estate and that money ^ for to pay the teacher for learning my four Grand Children Viz John Elizabeth Catherine and William Buddin and the remainder to be divided among all my Grand Children but my three Grand Children Viz Mary Nancy and Judeth Scott not to receive their part till they become of the age of eighteen years of age and I do make and ordain Thomas Buskirk and Barwell Evans my Executors to Execute and perform my will and I do hereby disallow revoke and disannull all wills before made owning this and no other to be my last will and Testament as witness my hand and Seal this the fifteenth day of December one thousand eight Hundred and two Signed Sealed and Acknowledged his in the presence of us Charles & Amonett mark Bradley Rhame Asa Rhame her Sarah S Davis mark -=-=-=-=-=- Personally appeared Mrs. Sarah Davis one of the subscribing Witnesses to the Within Will and being Duly Sworn on the Holy Evangelist of almighty God Sayeth that she Was Personally present and saw (the?) within named, Charles Amonet, Sign Seal Publ(ish?) A question mark inside parentheses indicates the transcriber is not confident as to the correct reading or that the text was not legible. Square brackets [] indicate material that is explanatory or not found in the document. Curved brackets {} are as shown in the document. 4. For this presentation, little attempt has been made to layout the text identical to that shown in the documents. In particular, words per line and line breaks vary. Some attempt has been made to reproduce capitalization and punctuation as read. However, this is not an exact and true reproduction. 5. Sumter District SC was formed in 1800 by the merger of Clarendon, Claremont, and Salem counties. In 1855, Clarendon was taken from Sumter District and reconstituted with the same boundaries it had in 1785. 6. One of Charles Amonett's daughters was the wife of William Buddin [Sr.] and the mother of John Buddin, William Buddin [Jr.], Elizabeth Buddin, and Catherine Buddin. Charles Amonett's grandson William Buddin [Jr.] married Martha McIntosh. The said William Buddin [Jr.] and Martha McIntosh were parents of Susan Ann Buddin wife of James Myers Coker Sr. The transcriber is the Great Great Grandson of Susan Ann Buddin and James Myers Coker Sr. 7.
