"Jeremiah Chancey an early settler of Clinch County GA was born in South
Carolina, September 5, 1782."  (Source - Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia -
Vol. 1).  To date, I have been unable to locate Jeremiah's birth place or
the names of his parents.  I have located a Gerimiah Chancy in the 1790
census of South Carolina - Charleston District, St. Bartholomes Parish - I
free white male under 16 years - (Source - 1790 Census Index - South
Carolina, Page 35).  I would like to further research this person to prove
(to my satisfaction) that he is or is not, the father of Jeremiah.

Questions:
(1)  Is anyone subscribing to this list, researching the surname Chancey?
(2)  Is or was the location - Charleston District, St. Bartholomes Parish -
in Charleston?
(3)  If it was or is in Charleston, would the Charleston Courthouse be a
good place to start my research for information pertaining to Geremiah?
(4)  If not, where in SC should I start?
