Subject: Re: census lookups From: ELIZABETH RUSSO Date: November 01, 1998 Thank you so much for checking! Q. Where is CHERAW DISTRICT? Please pardon my newbie questions. I started genealogy four months ago and had up until two weeks ago focused almost entirely on Huguenots. My DuBois' always (in the direct line back at least to 1750) spelled it DuBois. So, I always try to find signatures. But with census-takers, who knows. The DuBose line is a completely separate line and can almost always be ruled out. It is the Deboise and Duboise that drive me bonkers because they could be anyone! Are any of these censuses in books or CDs that people would have access to for further lookup? Anything with occupations and other info would give me a better clue. The DuBois' were generally planters and cotton gin makers.
